Using history as our inspiration, Captain Barnes is a destination without rival.
A raw bar, a restaurant, a cabaret, a home, a boutique, a spa, a dream—like the many lives a house from the 1850s naturally accumulates, Captain Barnes has always been more than an average NYC landmark mansion.
That history doesn’t just give us ideas—it gives us permission to continue a tradition of spectacle and entertainment. And so Captain Barnes remains alive with performance: opera in the kitchen, synchronized swimmers in the pool, flamenco dancers on the roof, a burlesque moment by the bar. Roosters crowing in the bedroom. Monkeys laughing in the bathroom. Any of it could happen on any given night—because the collective experience comes first.
A night at Captain Barnes is a formal affair, and radical self-expression is encouraged. Celebrate engagements, anniversaries, birthdays, retirements, hens nights, bachelor parties—host workshops, retreats, or a “just because you can” party.

It takes a certain amount of love, planning, finesse, luck, experience, and talent to pull off what may be your most memorable celebration. We don’t take weddings lightly—which is why they fall into a special category at Captain Barnes and are quoted through a customized fee schedule.
Our design and build team will work closely with you and your planner to bring your vision to life. We can also introduce curated in-house elements—exclusive floral arrangements, rare fine china, crystal glassware, antique furnishings, and special artifacts—made available to elevate your occasion.
